Rod: Tropheops
Biotop: Skalno in vmesno okolje bogato s sedimentom. Živi na globini od 5 do 20 m.
Običajna odrasla velikost: 9 cm / 7 cm
Priporočljiva velikost akvarija: 300 L
Ureditev akvarija: Zagotoviti je potrebno dovolj skal in skrivališč, kamor se lahko poskrijejo šibkejši predstavniki. Minimalna velikost akvarija naj bo 300 L in vsaj 120 cm dolžine.
Hrana: Rastlinojed. Prehranjuje se z algami, diatomejami in raznimi mikroorganizmi iz aufwuchsa.
Agresivnost: Znotraj vrste so agresivni, do preostalih vrst pa večinoma samo v času drstenja.
