Observed near schools of Copadichromis fry.
Geographic distribution:
Mandalawi area, Lake Malawi.
Special notes:
The name was chosen because of its resemblance to
H. sp. 'urotaenia tanzania', but both forms resemble
T. holotaenia more than Hemitaeniochromis urotaenia.
The generic placement of this taxon is provisional.
According to Oliver (2012), this and several other species are not closely
related to Hemitaeniochromis and are therefore referred to as
'Hemitaeniochromis' in quotation marks.
