Genus: Mylochromis
Biotope: Intermediate habitats; also found in pure rocky habitats.
Geographic distribution: First recognized at Mumbo Island; later recorded at locations south of Senga Point, including Chinyankwazi Island and Zimbabwe Rock.
Feeding: Most individuals behave as opportunistic scavengers and are attracted to stirred-up material. At Mumbo Island some individuals were observed rolling over small pebbles while foraging.
Breeding: Breeding males were encountered only at Boadzulu Island, where they defended small sand-scrape bowers at depths of 20–25 m. Mouthbrooding females were solitary at the same depths.
