Observed at a rocky site at a depth of about
20 m, associated with a cave.
Geographic distribution:
Recorded at Membe Point, Likoma Island.
Sexual dimorphism:
A male was observed in full breeding coloration.
Breeding:
A male in breeding dress was seen emerging briefly
from a cave and retreating immediately back inside.
Special notes:
Only a single encounter is documented. Because
the individual was in full breeding coloration,
the underlying melanin pattern could not be
assessed and generic placement remains
uncertain. The mouth shape resembled that of
Otopharynx ovatus, which led to the provisional
designation O. sp. ‘ovatus likoma’.
