Deep-water habitat below 50 m, in subdued light;
members of this deep-water species flock are
described as having a bottom-dweller habitus.
Geographic distribution:
Known from Msaka, Lake Malawi (Malawi).
Typical adult size:
Maximum recorded standard length about
49 mm.
Special notes:
Belongs to the deep-water Placidochromis flock
described by Hanssens (2004), which comprises
many small species living and breeding at great
depths and not observed in accessible waters.
This species is placed in Hanssens’ group 5,
characterized by 11–13 gill rakers. It may be
the smallest member of the genus.
