species are generally small, most under
10 cm standard length.
Special notes:
Member of Hanssens’ group 5 within the
deep-water Placidochromis complex,
characterized by 11–13 gill rakers.
The deep-water Placidochromis represent
a species flock occurring at depths
greater than 50 m.
