Genus: Placidochromis
Biotope: Sandy areas; described as a dark-colored sand-dwelling haplochromine.
Geographic distribution: Known only from near Metangula, Mozambique, where it was caught with a trawl.
Special notes: A dark-colored phenochilus-like cichlid distinct from other dark sand-dwellers discussed in the text. Beyond the capture near Metangula, no additional information is available.
