Genus: Taeniolethrinops
Type locality: Lake Malawi.
Typical adult size: The species was originally described from a single specimen measuring 11 cm in length.
Special notes: A deep-bodied cichlid with an unusually arched back profile (the specific name refers to an “arched back”) and a dark line just below the base of the dorsal fin. It was once considered potentially aberrant, but later collections reportedly included multiple individuals showing the same distinctive profile.
