Pseudotropheus sp. 'perspicax likoma' Masimbwe Island
Genus: Pseudotropheus
Biotope: Rocky habitat around Masimbwe Island, occurring in association with cave-rich areas.
Geographic distribution: Known from the Masimbwe Island, Lake Malawi.
Sexual dimorphism: Males lack a black submarginal band in the dorsal fin but possess black pelvic fins and a conspicuous black band in the anal fin; females are dark purplish-brown with an indistinct barring pattern.
Diet: Feeds from the aufwuchs by nipping at rock surfaces free of sediment.
Special notes: A small species considered more closely related to Pseudotropheus perspicax than to Pseudotropheus minutus, with which it occurs sympatrically through Pseudotropheus sp. ‘thin stripe’ at Likoma.
