Genus: Tropheops
Biotope: Sediment-rich intermediate habitat; restricted to the rockier part of the habitat at depths of 15 m or more.
Geographic distribution: Rocky shores between Nkhata Bay and Cape Manulo in Malawi.
Diet: Feeds from the biocover by nibbling and jerking algae from rocks, using twisting body movements to dislodge filamentous algae.
Aggression: Displays territoriality, but only toward conspecific males.
