Stigmatochromis sp. 'spilostichus type'  (unknown locality)
Genus: Stigmatochromis
Biotope: Recorded from Likoma Island and along the shores of Mozambique and the southeastern arm of the lake.
Geographic distribution: Likoma Island, plus the Mozambique shoreline and the southeastern arm of Lake Malawi.
Typical adult size: Maximum total length up to 20 cm.
Special notes: Trade names include “Haplochromis Spilostichus Type” and “Haplochromis Epichorialis”. The head shape is described as similar to Stigmatochromis woodi. Juveniles lack the distinct flank spots seen in juvenile S. woodi and instead show vertical bars that are emphasized in three places by dark spots. In adults, the pigmentation pattern is described as resembling that of S. woodi. Stigmatochromis sp. ‘spilostichus long-snout’ is regarded as possibly conspecific with this form.
