The mouth shape and structure are described as resembling that of Otopharynx ovatus
and Protomelas insignis. A fish suspected to be T. labifer was reportedly seen in a
fisherman’s dugout canoe after hook-and-line fishing, but it was not preserved for confirmation.
The cited surveys (Turner, 1996; Snoeks & Hanssens, 2004) did not record this species.
