Rod: Lethrinops
Biotop: Peščeno okolje. Živi na globinah od 7-15 m.
Običajna odrasla velikost: 14 cm / 12 cm
Priporočljiva velikost akvarija: 400 L
Ureditev akvarija: Akvarij naj bo minimalne dolžine 150 cm. Na dnu naj bo čim več peska. Peščeno območje pa prekinimo s posameznimi večjimi kamni, vseeno pa pustimo dovolj velika peščena območja.
Priporočljivo jih je naseliti v večjih skupinah (npr. 3 samce in 7 samic). Naselimo jih skupaj le z ostalimi mirnejšimi vrstami ostrižnikov.
Hrana: Mesojed. Prehranjuje se z raznimi nevretenčarji, majhnimi rakci in ličinkami insektov, ki jih lovi v pesku (iskanje za hrano poteka vedno v večjih skupinah).
Agresivnost: Miren ostrižnik tako znotraj vrste, kakor tudi do drugih vrst. Zaradi nizke znotraj vrstne agresivnosti je v skupini ponavadi obarvanih več samcev.
