Genus: Lethrinops
Type locality: Lake Nyassa [Domira Bay].
Biotope: Sandy to muddy bottoms in the littoral zone.
Geographic distribution: Southern and central parts of Lake Malawi; mainly along the southern half of the lake, with isolated records from the central western coast.
Typical adult size: Up to about 16 cm SL (around 19.5 cm total length).
Diet: Primarily feeds on chironomid larvae obtained by sifting sandy and muddy substrates.
Special notes: A rarely exported species in the aquarium trade, with no documented long-term maintenance or breeding reports.
