Genus: Tropheops
Biotope: Shallow, wave-washed rocky habitat (sediment-free zones).
Geographic distribution: Maleri Islands (Lake Malawi).
Sexual dimorphism: Males are predominantly blue and lack yellow coloration on the body. Females are yellow.
Special notes: A rare shallow-water species around the Maleri Islands. Males defend territories on top of prominent rocks. Distinguished from T. sp. ‘maleri yellow’ by the absence of yellow body coloration in males.
