Genus: Lethrinops
Type locality: Near Langenburg, Lake Malawi.
Biotope: Bays close to the shoreline.
Geographic distribution: Lake Malawi.
Typical adult size: Up to 14 cm.
Recommended aquarium size: 400 L.
Aquarium setup: Fine sand substrate with open sandy areas interrupted by a few larger stones. Best kept in larger groups.
Diet: Carnivorous. Feeds on various invertebrates, small crustaceans and insect larvae sifted from the sand.
Breeding: Maternal mouthbrooder.
Aggression: Peaceful towards conspecifics and other calm cichlid species.
