Genus: Lethrinops
Type locality: Lake Malawi.
Biotope: Sandy substrates. Occurs at depths from 15 to 55 metres.
Geographic distribution: Endemic to Lake Malawi.
Typical adult size: Up to 13 cm standard length.
Special notes: The specific name honours Kenneth E. Stride, who introduced successful commercial trawling to Lake Malawi. The species is now very rare in the lake and is threatened by overfishing by commercial trawlers.
