Genus: Petrotilapia
Biotope: Upper rocky habitat; may occur in other habitats when plankton is available.
Geographic distribution: Recorded at Likoma Island and Taiwanee Reef.
Typical adult size: Maximum total length up to 19 cm.
Sexual dimorphism: Males vary in shades of blue with a strongly barred pattern. Females dark-bodied with black bars.
Special notes: Largest known mbuna species. Non-territorial individuals often form schools and feed on plankton.
