Rod:	Placidochromis
Biotop:	Vmesno okolje na prehodu v peščeno okolje. Živi na globinah od 10 do 25 m.
Običajna odrasla velikost:	17 cm / 15 cm
Priporočljiva velikost akvarija:	400 L
Ureditev akvarija:	Akvarij naj bo minimalne dolžine 150 cm. Na dnu naj bo droben pesek. Posamezna območja peska pa prekinimo z večjimi kamni. Na enega samca je priporočljivo naseliti 2-3 samice. Lahko pa jih imamo tudi v skupinah (npr. 3 samci in 5 samic). Naselimo ga skupaj samo z mirnejšimi vrstami ostrižnikov, npr. iz rodu Aulonocara, Nyassaechromis, Copadichromis, Scianochromis, Lethrinops, Fossochromis...
Hrana:	Mesojed. V glavnem se prehranjuje z mikroorganizmi, ki jih najde v pesku.
Agresivnost:	Miren ostrižnik, tako znotraj vrste, kakor tudi do drugih vrst.
