Genus: Placidochromis
Type locality: Msaka, Lake Malawi, Malawi
Biotope: Deep-water habitat at depths exceeding 50 m, recorded from 65–69 m, within the deep-living Placidochromis assemblage occurring in subdued light conditions.
Geographic distribution: Msaka, Lake Malawi, Malawi.
Special notes: Included among the deep-water Placidochromis species recognized after Hanssens (2004) documented numerous deep-living taxa from below 50 m. Assigned to the deep-water assemblage in which species broadly resemble each other in a barred melanin pattern while differing in multiple morphological characters.
