Genus: Placidochromis
Type locality: Mnema III, Lake Malawi, Malawi
Biotope: Deep-water habitat below 50 m, forming part of the deep-living Placidochromis species flock composed mainly of small bottom-dwelling species adapted to subdued light conditions.
Geographic distribution: Known only from “Mnema III”, Lake Malawi, Malawi.
Special notes: Member of Hanssens’ deep-water group 5, comprising species with 11–13 gill rakers and a melanin pattern consisting solely of vertical bars.
